- Title
The Broadway Site of the University of Manitoba: Origins and Demise.
- Authors
Johnson, Richard A.
- Abstract
The article presents the history of the Broadway site of the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg from its initial construction upto its closure. As the university expanded in the late 19th century there was a need for more space; however the choice of a new site was the subject of much debate and conflict amongst the university administration. After most of the site was vacated around 1950, elements of the government moved into some of the buildings and occupied them for several decades.
