- Abstract
The article describes the case of a 56-year-old man who has a history of both migrainous aura without headache and migraine with aura. The patient had a typical episode of migraine and developed a purpuric-looking rash on his face, particularly over his cheekbone and under his nose. He was later diagnosed with facial ecchymosis associated with migraine. It has been suggested that vasodilation and distension of cutaneous vessels during migraine may contribute to facial ecchymosis.
