- Abstract
The article discusses efforts made by Jewish prisoners in the Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz, Poland, to track time by the Jewish calendar and such calendars that were preserved. It examines the danger and difficulty of calendar making in concentration camps, the religious significance of the Jewish calendar, and the calendar kept by Auschwitz prisoner Sophie Sohlberg and the influence of teacher Julius Kissinger on her state of mind. The article states that in the Jewish calendar, the Holocaust took place from 5699 to 5705.
