SACRED PLACES and ARLIT: DEUXIÈME PARIS.
- Authors
Petty, Sheila
- Abstract
The article explores the reterritorialization and deterritorialization in the documentary films "Arlit: Deuxième Paris," directed by Idrissou Mora-Kpai and "Sacred Places," directed by Jean-Marie Teno. It presents how the said films reterritorialize documentary aesthetics through the use of testimony as metaphors for the post-colonial struggles of Africa. The social and political costs of global exploitation from an African perspective are tackled.
