- Title
Geminivirus C4 protein alters Arabidopsis development.
- Abstract
The article discusses a study that investigated the role that the C4 protein of beet curly top virus (BCTV C4) plays in abnormal plant development when expressed out of the context of a virus infection. It is indicated that ectopic expression of the BCTV C4 in Arabidopsis thaliana drastically alters plant development, possibly through multiple hormonal pathways disruption. Specialized epidermis structures were absent or developmentally impaired in seedlings that expressed C4 protein.
