Why Quantile Regression Makes Good Sense for Analyzing Economic Outcomes in Medical Research.
- Authors

- Abstract
The author discusses a study within the issue which demonstrates that quantile regression is the method of choice compared to least-squares regression for estimating median hospital charges. He provides examples to illustrate why this is so. He advocates the use of quantile regression as it could apply to both charges and costs. Also the statistical issues presented by highly variable distributions of outcomes such as hospital charges, make quantile regression an ideal methodologic tool.
