- Abstract
The emergence of Information and communication technology and its increased frequent academic use has made it imperative for the librarians of today to get updated from these transpiring information and communication technologies. The information professionals today carry great expectations from their society and to satisfy those expectations active learning skills and transforming capabilities are quite essential. Libraries, like other professions necessarily require ICT for performing daily procedures and meeting expected services of their users. Due to the increased usage of academic libraries, a study is conducted on librarians of departmental seminar libraries, libraries of institute and research center of University of Karachi. The study aims to identify the level of awareness as well as usage of ICT resources by the Librarians. As these librarian's act as a basic pillar in supporting the academic curriculum and in fulfillment of user's potential intellectual needs. Survey method was used to gather the required data. The data is collected from Faculty of Social Science. This study will be helpful in updating the ICT based knowledge of librarians through trainings and workshops. It will also be help full in providing librarians the essential ICT based equipment's and a platform that will meet the needs of today's society.
