- Abstract
This article examines standards which may be used to reshape Korean identity as well as principles which may be considered to sustain Korean democracy. The author stresses that the role of identity is vital as a prerequisite in solving the problems of social integration and political legitimacy. The author also offers suggestions on how to achieve social integration with a new Korean identity including transition from majoritarian democracy to consensual democracy at political system level.
