Thorp, Jennifer
- Abstract
In this article the author discusses the effect of patronage on dance during the middle of 17th Century in London, England. The author informs that unlike France, England didn't have any academy for arts, music and dance and the patronage comes under two types, one is financial assistance to dance masters and the other is promoting the sale of dance masters' books and paraphernalia. The author comments that the royal family and aristocracy played a significant role in promoting dance in England.
