- Title
"I do care for something": Twelfth Night's Feste and the Performance of Character.
- Authors
HUTCHISON, NICK; JELLERSON, DONALD
- Abstract
An essay is presented on the character of Feste in the play "Twelfth Night," by William Shakespeare. It examines the stakes involved in asking what Fester cares for, demonstrates how revision of understanding of character can open interpretive pathways drawing from performance practice and literary analysis, and shows that coherence of Feste or Malvolio as characters and what they desire may be productive for Shakespeare scholars.
