The article presents an analysis of laws related to divorce in Puerto Rico, with a focus on the social consequences of divorce to women, and children. A history of the Puerto Rican civil law regarding divorce is given, as well as an overview of Puerto Rican family law. Topics discussed include economic conditions of divorced mothers, child maintenance, and parental alienation.
