- Abstract
Aquagenic pruritus (AP) is a condition characterized by intense itching or a burning sensation after contact with water, without visible skin changes. It can significantly impact a patient's quality of life. Treatment options for AP are not standardized, but topical agents, systemic drugs, and phototherapy have been reported to be effective. This article presents a case study of a 60-year-old woman with AP who was initially treated with omalizumab but experienced a loss of efficacy. The patient was then successfully treated with upadacitinib, a selective JAK-1 inhibitor, which resulted in complete resolution of pruritus and leg pain. This is the first reported case of aquagenic pruritus being controlled with upadacitinib, and further research is needed to determine the optimal dosage for this treatment.
