Title
Toray into nanotech.
Abstract
The fiber producer Toray Industries Inc. based in Tokyo, Japan, has developed a technique to synthesize 1.4 million fibers measuring less than 100 nanometers in diameter into a nylon textile with a surface that exceeds regular nylon by 1000 times. Apart from absorbing bad smells, this new nylon has double or triple moisture-absorbing capacity compared to regular polyamide yarns. Toray plans to launch commercial products such as clothing and various types of filters in the next two to three years.
