- Abstract
The article discusses the approval by the Director of the Division of Banking Supervision and Regulation on the Portuguese banking company Banco BPI SA's proposal to establish representative offices in Newark, New Jersey, and New Bedford, Massachusetts under the International Banking Act (IBA). Some of the factors that the director have considered in approving the proposal are outlined. These include competition, financial and managerial resources, and the relative size of the bank.
