- Abstract
The article provides an overview of a study which investigated that chromium isotopes provide a history of oxygenation of Earth's atmosphere. The researchers have used a new geochemical tracer, chromium isotopes to reveal that oxygenation was more nuanced and less undirectional than people might have imagined. They found that the reprise of near pre-Great Oxidation Event (GOE) values about 500 million years later and the chromium isotopes suggested that soon after that there was another increased in atmospheric oxygen.
