Title
Model organisms: A new kind of knock out.
Abstract
The article offers information on a study which relates that a new tool that could be used to invert, delete and insert genes in a perfect fashion will enable the production of a more sophisticated animal model of human diseases. It mentions that researchers have validated the potential of an enzyme called the Dre recombinase, which cuts and rearranges DNA at specific targets. It relates that such enzyme can be used to create mice in which specific gene sequences are interrupted.
