- Abstract
The article presents the author's views on the role of progesterone in the prevention of preterm delivery. He opines that in the OPPTIMUM trial that studied 1197 women, asymptomatic cervical shortening remains the primary indication for vaginal progesterone. He comments that vaginal progerterone was associated with a significant reduction in neonatal death although no significant reduction in the composite primary outcomes was identified.
