- Abstract
A critique is presented of the relationship between dialogue and visual arts in the early 20th century French mystery play "Le Martyre de Saint Sébastien" by Gabriele D'Annunzio, with music by Claude Debussy. The play's portrayal of Christian Saint Sebastian, artist Antonio Pollaiuolo, and eroticism in the play are discussed, as well as the influence of authors Walter Pater and Bernard Berenson on D'Annunzio.
