- Abstract
The article discusses religious education in public schools in Turkey, analyzing changes in light of the concept of Europeanization due to European Union (EU) support for religious minorities in Turkey. Topics include the critiques offered by the EU bodies European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) and European Commission on Turkey, the role of religion in Turkish politics, and the history of secularization in Turkey. The treatment of the Alevi religious community is addressed.
