- Authors
PELARGONIO, GEMMA; BISCEGLIA, CATERINA
- Abstract
The authors reflect on the study that examines the efficacy of implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) in reducing mortality in patients at high risk of life-threatening arrhythmias. The study shows that women were less likely to experience life-threatening arrhythmias. The authors argue that the expands the knowledge on the impact of ICD therapy on survival in women, however, the question on whether women benefit as much as men with ICD therapy is still debated.
