- Abstract
The article discusses the role of T cells in periodontal health and disease, with a focus on homeostasis and autoimmunity in periodontitis. The article explores on the research of Porphyromonas gingivalis, the periodontopathic organism, interaction with T cells which shows it turns off T-cell genes, defining T-cells as homeostatic. Spread of periodontal diseases, causative organisms and disease mechanisms are discussed in detail using charts and diagrams.
