- Abstract
The article offers information the isolation of puumala virus (PUUV) and other Arvicolinae-borne hantaviruses and the development of mouse model for human hantavirus infection. It mentions that Syrian hamsters were inoculated with lung homogenates from nucleocapsid protein (NP)-positive and seronegative rodents for virus propagation. It shows that the inoculation of Syrian hamsters is an efficient method for the maintenance and isolation of PUUV and other hantaviruses.
