- Title
CONTACT DERMATITIS IN HAIRDRESSERS FROM THIOGLYCOLLIC ACID DERIVATIVES.
- Abstract
The article focuses on a paper on dermatitis. During the past 4-5 years thioglycollic acid derivatives have been used in various cold wave preparations. One hundred and thirty-eight patients were examined and 79 showed positive skin tests to thioglycollic acid hydrazide and 42 to thioglycollic acid glycol ester. In the remaining 17, the cause of sensitization was uncertain as they had been in contact with both substances. A number of patients were examined against other thioglycollic acid derivatives in order to investigate the question of group sensitivity and a high percentage was found to show positive reactions.
