- Abstract
In this issue of "Nachrichten aus der Chemie" (News from Chemistry), various topics are covered. It reports on the analysis of arsenic species using nitrogen plasma mass spectrometry (MICAP) and ion chromatography (IC). Furthermore, the combination of laser ablation (LA) with ICP-TOF-MS for rapid spatially resolved measurement of element distribution in micro-meteorites is described. Other topics include the enantioselective allylation of aldimine esters, the analysis of metal complexes on the skin using laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry (LDI-MS), the change in oxidation states of perovskite under pressure, and the synthesis of a temperature-stable compound with an antiaromatic cation. Various research projects are also presented, such as the decoding of the biosynthetic pathway of the drug enhancer QS-21, the elucidation of the mechanism of enzymatic synthesis of pipecolic acid derivatives, and the oligomerization of cyclohexene through friction. Other research findings include a fragmentation scheme for calculating the electronic energies of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), a method for the selective borylation of aliphatic hydrocarbons, and the possibility of photocatalytic couplings of cyanoisochinolines and various compounds in water.
