- Abstract
This article, published in the British Journal of Dermatology, explores the potential of mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) as a treatment for Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC), a rare and aggressive skin cancer. The study found that MMF significantly reduced the viability of MCC cells in culture and inhibited MCC tumor growth in a preclinical mouse model. The authors suggest that MMF may be a promising option for managing MCC in patients who require immunosuppression, although further research is needed. The study was funded by the NIAMS Intramural Research Program and the authors declare no conflicts of interest.
