- Abstract
The article address several issues raised by the U.S. Supreme Court's recent decision in Baby Veronica v. Baby Girl case, which created great uncertainty for application of the U.S. Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) in Indian child removals and adoptions to non-Indian custodians. The issues discussed Indian child welfare crisis and U.S. congressional hearing pertaining to ICWA, definition of removals and adoption, and effect of the case on other ICWA case.
