- Abstract
It is known that ḥadith critics differ in their approach to the narrations of the people of bidʿah. In parallel with this, different judgments have emerged in the evaluation of the authenticity of many ḥadiths. This article aims to show the other results of the mentioned conflict in determining the authenticity of the ḥadiths through specific examples. Thus, it will be obvious that all of the reasons for cerh, known as maṭāʿin-i ʿashara, are not unanimously accepted. While dealing with the subject, the objections of Abu'l-Fayḍ Aḥmad el-Ghumārī to Abd al-Raʿūf al-Munāwī have been used as an example. First, the evaluations of al-Munāwī and Abu'l-Fayḍ Aḥmad about the narration have been shown and a general judgment has been tried to be made. Because of the subject is closely related to the ijtihad of jarḥ-taʿdīl, the issue of ijtihad of jarḥ-taʿdīl was discussed before moving on to the examples. Here, the limits of jarḥ-taʿdīl have been tried to be shown. According to this, it is necessary by the consensus among the critics that the narrator should bear the conditions of justice and zabt for the acceptance of the narrations. However, a common decision cannot be mentioned in what counts as the elements that ensure the realization of justice. After the emphases on the ijtihad aspect of jarḥ-taʿdīl, the disagreement of the critics about whether the narrations of the people of heresy should be accepted is mentioned. Thus, it will be shown that the narrations of the people of heresy are a subject that is open to discussion.
