WHY PUBERTY RATING IS MANDATORY FOR GROWTH MONITORING OF A PERI-PUBERTAL CHILD ATHLETE?
- Authors
Kamal, Syed Arif
- Abstract
This article discusses the importance of puberty rating for monitoring the growth of child athletes. Pubertal development affects a child's growth, and understanding the normal differences in height gain and puberty is crucial for researchers and pediatricians. The Tanner stages, or sexual-maturity ratings, are used to identify the visible stages of puberty. The author recommends performing puberty rating based on Tanner scales for peri-pubertal and pubertal girls and boys, particularly those involved in vigorous sports activities like gymnastics. The article also provides information on the different stages of puberty and their characteristics.
