- Authors
Harmon, Robert G.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the improved health care program services given to inmates of the Maricopa County jail in Arizona. The health staff of the correctional institution aimed to achieve the standards required by the American Medical Association after orders from federal courts and a consent decree. In June 1982, special prevention projects against diseases were implemented and nursing coverages were maximized for the prisoners. Moreover, the program is managed by an administrator, medical director, chief of psychiatry, and a nursing supervisor. The next challenge of the staff will be the opening of a new project in January 1985.
