U.S. Textile and Apparel First Quarter Trade Report.
- Abstract
The article offers information on the textile and apparel 1994 first quarter trade report in the U.S., released by Department of Commerce. The report shows a 5.2% increase in the trade deficit over the same period last year. During the quarter of 1994, textile and apparel imports rose to $909 billion, a 5.3% increase over the same period in 1993. Accordingly, textile and apparel imports for the period totalled $2.7 billion, a 5.5% increase over the first quarter of 1993. William J. Armfield IV of Unifi Inc. disclosed that the bulk of imports are coming from India, Pakistan, China and other countries which have essentially closed their doors to textile and apparel markets.
