- Abstract
The article describes a case of a 72-year-old woman with end-stage diabetic nephropathy who had been undergoing regular hemodialysis for three years. A purple discoloration of the urine and urine bag was noticed on a certain occasion. Urine culture produced Escherichia coli. 500 mg oral ciprofloxacin twice daily was prescribed, after which no purple discoloration or pyuria was noticed.
