- Authors
McClain, Molly
- Abstract
The article presents a biography of Theron Parsons, an early settler of National City, California. It is drawn largely from Parson's diary, which he kept for over twenty-five years. Like many of his contemporaries, Parsons looked for real estate opportunities, and purchased land in the region. In the late 1820s, he established two newspapers called "Thursday's Post" and the "Censor." Parsons' Christian beliefs, and his support for the abolition of slavery, are also noted.
