- Abstract
The article presents information on the issues related to equal opportunity and the need of integration in schools with reference to several cases including Parents Involved in Community Schools v. Seattle School District No. 1, Ricci v. DeStefano and Washington v. Davis. The equal protection claims based on the U.S. Fourteenth Amendment protection and transformative equality is discussed. The concept of equality of opportunity and equal results, the related jurisprudence and the critical assessment of discrimination is considered. The issues related to liberal individualism and neutrality is also discussed.
