- Abstract
The article presents a case study on the implications of osteoblasts express NLPR3, a member of the nucleotide-leucine-rich (NLR) family of cytosolic receptors, on the initiation of programmed cell death. Invasion of osteoblasts by Salmonella is needed for maximal induction of apoptosis and murine, and human osteoblasts expressed NLRP3 after the entry of bacterial pathogens. It yields a mechanism underlying apoptotic cell death of osteoblasts, which leads to bone loss at sites of infection.
