- Abstract
The article discusses the author's experience of being a teacher and the benefits of the mindful practices while reading the novel "Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe about the colonization of Nigeria by the British in 1800s. Topics include discussion with students on issues relevant to the novel including religious freedom; how teachers can pose questions that begin with tell; and how the novel provides an opportunities to build strong classroom communities by interrogating deep emotions.
