- Title
AFP in nonmalignant diseases.
- Abstract
The article report that nonmalignant liver diseases may be associated with an increased serum AFP concentration, but the abnormal AFP levels are usuall transient and below a few hundred micrograms per liter. In hepatitis the AFP level rises 15 to 30 days after the onset of the disease and returns to normal after 15 to 26 weeks. In young patients with hepatitis the number of AFP-"positive" sera is higher than in adult patients. The article presents pictures of medical screening of these which act as an evidence for the same.
