Day-case thyroid surgery.
- Authors
Doran, H. E.; Palazzo, F.
- Abstract
The authors advocate for day-case thyroidectomy in Great Britain. According to the authors, ambulatory thyroid surgery accounts for less than one percent of overall thyroidectomies in the country. Information on postoperative risks associated with the surgical procedure is provided. The authors question whether patients at risk of bleeding can be identified and excluded from the day-case option. They point out the cost savings associated with day-case thyroidectomy.
