- Abstract
The article discusses murals by Lakota artist Felix Walking at Saint Paul's Catholic mission in Marty, South Dakota, on the Yankton Indian Reservation. The author reflects on community memory and artistic depictions of contact between the Ihanktonwan Indians and mission leaders of the Catholic Church. Other topics include religious instruction and education for Indians, narrative storytelling in Sioux visual arts, and conservation.
