- Abstract
Vacuum filtration method was used to fabricate robust multiwalled carbon nanotube buckypapers (MWCNT-BPs). MWCNTs were functionalized by epoxy resin (diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A) to enhance their dispersibility. Fabricated BPs were immersed in epoxy hardner to covalently attach functional groups of MWCNTs to each other. Functionalization of MWCNTs was characterized qualitatively by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and quantitatively using thermogravimetric analysis. The morphology study of BPs was studied using scanning electron microscopy. Functionalization of MWCNTs resulted in more uniform and homogeneous BPs. Moreover, considerable improvements were achieved in the mechanical and electrical properties of BPs. POLYM. COMPOS., 38:2727-2733, 2017. © 2015 Society of Plastics Engineers
