- Authors
Murata, Daigaku
- Abstract
The article focuses on the increase in mergers and acquisitions (M&As) in Japan with fewer hostile M&A attempts since 1990s. It reports that there were only six hostile takeover attempts in Japan from 1991 to 2005, which slightly increased to 18 from 2006 to 2011, most of which failed. It informs that companies have increasingly introduced hostile takeover prevention measures since the mid-2000s and emphasized the importance of shareholders over stakeholders.
