- Title
Horizontal gene transfer: Analysing incompatibility — Wolbachia on the couch.
- Authors
Amoils, Shannon
- Abstract
The article discusses the research on the horizontal gene transformation with analyzation on an intracellular bacterium called Wolbachia. The constrained intracellular bacterium Wolbachia is known for its ability to quickly invade insect populations utilizing a range of reproductive parasitic mechanisms. One of the mechanism is cytoplasmic incompatibility where sperm from Wolbachia-infected males is qualified so that it can fertilized eggs produced by females infected with same Wolbachia strain.
