- Abstract
The article presents guidelines on copyright and privacy in the shared electronic spaces in the classroom. An overview is presented of the basics of copyright protection provided by the laws of the United States to the authors of original works of authorship, authorized use of files in downloads by different sharing networks including Grouper, MyVideo, Flickr, YouTube, and Google suitable for classroom use. The article discusses issues including online files and privacy, Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), rules for downloading audio and video files and distance education and multimedia project contests.
