- Abstract
Diverticulum of the biliary tree is an extremely rare unreported type of biliary anomaly. Unlike choledochal cysts, these lesions are not congenital and are not associated with aberrant pancreatic biliary duct or risk of biliary neoplasia; thus, surgical management is clearly not indicated. We report the case of a 71-year-old female who was operated on for cholelithiasis with dilated common bile duct. The intraoperative cholangiography demonstrated a periampullary choledochal diverticulum.
