The article presents a science activity for U.S. elementary school students designed to introduce them to engineering and engineering design by investigating how to carry and move a heavy object. Topics discussed include the importance of including engineering activities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, the Engineering Is Elementary program, and the Next Generation Science Standards.
