- Authors
Weinburgh, Molly H.; Silva, Cecilia; Malloy, Robert; Marshall, Jenesta; Smith, Kathy
- Abstract
The authors discuss methods for teaching fourth and fifth graders about soil erosion using the 5R teaching method, which includes replacing everyday vocabulary with scientific terms, repeating newly learned terms to remember them, and reloading or repeating the vocabulary each day. The authors describe the parallels between science education and language development, how to teach the science of real world situations, and how to teach science to English language learners (ELLs).
