- Abstract
The article informs that the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) launched the Michigan Student Test of Education Progress (M-STEP) in the spring of 2015, its new assessment system replacing the Michigan Education Assessment Program (MEAP). Topics include the Michigan legislature passing legislation in February 2013 which inhibited the use of the Common Core Standards (CCS). Also mentioned are Elementary and Secondary School Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) and the Race to the Top (RTTT) of 2008.
