Powerloom weavers hit by fall in export orders.
- Abstract
The article reports that powerloom weavers in India were affected by the low realization from exports due to depreciating dollar against rupee. Powerloom weavers are scared of taking new orders because of the depreciating dollar which led to the exports of powerloom products. According to the author, flow of orders went down because export trade was affected by the exchange rate. The Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL) urged the government to support the weavers by providing export incentives.
