- Abstract
A definition of "intelligent lighting" is: Intelligent lighting is a lighting system that utilizes bi-directional communication between control and luminaire, with the intelligence residing in each uniquely addressed ballast. As a result of the intelligence residing in the ballast, control communication is independent of the power circuits, eliminating the need for dimming and/or relay panels and the home runs from the load to these panels. Essential "intelligent" characteristics of a DALI installation are: • The individual addressable control and monitoring of lighting systems. • Precise and repeatable digital dimming. • Design flexibility and ease of installation. • OPC server for BMS clients.
