- Abstract
This article discusses the role of markets under the dictatorship of the proletariat. Marxist analysis of the role of the working class in appropriation of the means of production is analysed. The fact that inequality will persist even as communism is developed under the dictatorship of the proletariat is taken as a sign that markets will persist. indications that Karl Marx foresaw this process in the book "Communist Manifesto" are addressed. The new economic policy in the Soviet Union following the civil war in the 1920s is cited as one example of the accommodation of markets.
