- Title
African Union: Fraud Attempt Foiled.
- Abstract
The African Union (AU) recently announced that an attempt to defraud the organization of over $6 million was foiled. An individual who was not employed by the AU tried to withdraw the money from the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) using forged payment orders. The AU commended the CBE staff and its finance department for their swift action in preventing the fraudulent attempt. The incident has prompted the AU to review its security measures and work with the CBE to reinforce safeguards and implement enhanced protocols to prevent future fraudulent attempts.
